Event Type: Programs
Age Group(s): Adults
Date: 10/15/2019
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: 8:00 PM
Description:
Alpine glaciers of the McMurdro Dry Valleys: how are they changing and why do we care. When we think of "glaciers" and "Antarctica", frequently we think about melt and change. But in a place that is so cold and for relatively small glaciers, are they even changing? And how? I'll discuss results of my PhD research on how dust in the McMurdo Dry Valleys influences melt of the glaciers and the impacts of melt on the glaciers themselves as well as the surrounding ecosystem.
