As a field team leader in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Chris Jaros has spent roughly two and a half years of his life, over the course of 14 years, trekking across a landscape that few people have ever seen. As a hydrologist, he has been intimately involved with a most capricious element in a frozen environment: liquid water.
