Please join Klaus Lorenz for a presentation on his travels to discover some of nature`s most stunning creations in the Canadian Rockies. We journey through the flat prairies of Alberta`s cowboy country to the dramatic mountainous landscapes of British Columbia and the Pacific Coast exploring the grandeur of Waterton Glaciers, Banff and Jasper national parks. Starting in Calgary, host of the Canada`s first Winter Olympics in 1988 we travel to Waterton, a quaint alpine village stopping along the way to see the local cowboy culture. Crossing the US-Canadian border to explore Montana`s Glacier National Park where over millennia glaciers have carved out rugged landscapes of spectacular mountains and pristine lakes. Back in Canada we visit Fort Steele Heritage town which offers a costumed look into life as it was during the mining boom of the 1890s. In Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we view the many beautiful lakes and the curiously shaped hoodoos-spires of eroded limestone. We visit the Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum dedicated to the first Nation People with its wide-ranging collection of arts, artifacts and ceremonial pieces. Continuing on to Jasper we journey across the world`s most spectacular highway, the Icefields Parkway. Riding on an Ice Explorer snow coach to the Ahabasca Glacier we step on the glacier`s surface. We stroll through Whistler, a village offering a delightful array of natural charms. We finish our tour in Vancouver where we visit china town and the Dr. Sun Yat- Sen Classical Chinese Garden. Klaus is well known to those of you who regularly attend INL. He has traveled to over 95 countries and shared many of these adventures with us at the Library Program. He is retired from CSU and enjoys traveling the world. Join us Tuesday March 13 2018 at the Old Town Library Or Thursday March 22 2018 at the Harmony Library Community Room
