Exercise your freedom to read and pick up a free book by joining our book club featuring banned and challenged books.
This month we will be reading Laurie Halse Anderson's Shout. This bestselling memoir in verse is a companion to Speak, Anderson's award winning novel about a teenager who struggles to find her voice after being sexually assaulted. Shout has received both multiple starred reviews and multiple challenges since it's publication in 2019.

For students in grades 4,5 and 6 with an adult companion (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, neighbor, mentor). Enjoy making new friends, discussing the book, and engaging in hands on activities. A light dinner will be provided.
Registration is limited and starts March 1. Each registered pair will receive a free copy of the book. Registrants will be notified when their books is available for pickup at the Council Tree Library.
Explore nature, breath, and life through dance with students from Colorado State University's dance program. No registration needed, but we will adhere to room capacity limit maximum of 85 people.
This event is interactive and includes a dance performance, craft-making,
and creative movement activities.
Registration opens today for the June 20 event: Free to Read. This staff lead program for high school students and adults features recently published and banned or challenged books. May's discussion will be about Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé. This award winning thriller tells the story of two private school students targeted by an anonymous bully. Once registered, you will be notified when your complimentary book is available for pick up at Council Tree Library. Drop in for a snack and try a new activity or craft, every Wednesday. This week we'll me making mini lightsabers that light up, in celebration of May the Fourth.
You are welcome to arrive at any time during the program. For students in middle and high school.

you are working on, or a cross-stitch sampler? Are you embroidering, sewing,
beading, or creating friendship bracelets? Are you stuck on a new skill and
want to ask if anyone else knows how to do Japanese short rows? If you want to
work on your project and enjoy the company of other crafters while you are at
it, come join us at Council Tree Library!

(bring-your-own-project), though we will have a basic craft available too. An experienced knitter is on hand for questions. Light refreshments will be provided.
