Registration opens today for the June 20 event: Free to Read. This staff lead program for high school students and adults features recently published and banned or challenged books. May's discussion will be about Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé. This award winning thriller tells the story of two private school students targeted by an anonymous bully. Once registered, you will be notified when your complimentary book is available for pick up at Council Tree Library. It is a professionally staffed, on-the-street team who will build relationships with community members, service providers, businesses and city services as a means to address and deescalate disruptive behaviors downtown.

Evie, you can do almost everything you could do at one of our branch
libraries. You can check materials out, you can return materials from
any branch, you can get a library card. We can help you put materials on
hold or check the status of your holds, but we don’t deliver holds –
you will have to pick those up at one of the branches.
You can
also print, use our WiFi, or check out a Chromebook kit. We will often
have storytimes or an activity or craft. And we are always happy to help
you find your next great read. We hope to see you soon!

You get to pick your own book. Instead of a required book, you can choose any book that falls into our monthly theme. Be ready to discuss your pick and receive new book recommendations.

Conversations build community at Old Town Library. “Conversations in English” offers a friendly, informal setting for English language learners to practice their English and connect with others. A volunteer facilitator, who is a native-English speaker, guides conversations on relevant, every day topics like family, work, school, sports, and daily life. Participants can also suggest topics to discuss. For adults. All levels of experience and ability are welcome. Registered participants will receive a link to the Zoom meeting by email.
