Event Details

Until his death this year at age 94, Pete Seeger sang for justice and freedom. With traditional folk songs and his own compositions, he united and empowered listeners across the U.S. and around the globe. In the 1930s and ‘40s he sang to support the right of working men to earn a living wage. By the ‘60s he was singing in support of civil rights and against the war in Vietnam. In his later years he turned his artistry to preserving our natural world. Daniel Blegen presents Seeger’s life and music in a unique one-hour concert/lecture, Pete Seeger and the Hammer of Justice. Included are Seeger standards like “Turn, Turn, Turn,” “If I Had a Hammer,” “We Shall Overcome,” and many more.
