Event Details

Frequent Yucatan traveler, Richard Grant, will share this photo journey of his month-long bus trip through Central America to five world-famous Maya archaeology sites. In Chiapas, Mexico, the heartland of the Maya, you will experience the temples of Palenque, travel by small boat to the ancient site of Yaxchilan on the Usumacinta River, and see the famous temple paintings of Bonampak in the Lacandon jungle. In southern Guatemala you will walk along cobblestone streets in the quaint, colonial city of Antigua with its old Spanish cathedrals and nearby volcanoes. Traveling on to western Honduras, you will see the intricate and unique stone carvings at the ruins of Copan, as well as some beautiful toucans, macaws and parrots. Finally, completing the loop in northern Guatemala, see the little island town of Flores and climb the spectacular jungle pyramids of Tikal.
