In August of 2012, Lana and David Bump left their stable jobs, their house, their family, and their little dog to travel the world for a year. Lana had worked in the federal court system for 6 years, and David had worked at a computer software company for 15 years. They were looking for a change of pace; they certainly found it. They didn't start out life as globetrotters, but a trip to the UK with David's mother gave them the travel bug, and since 2001 Lana and David have traveled to Hawaii, England, Wales, Ireland, New Zealand, Iceland, South Africa, Botswana, Paris, Italy and Belize, along with various trips in the US. Between August 2012 and July 2013, they traveled through 33 US states and 34 countries, spanning 6 continents. They traveled by plane, train, boat, bus, car, Jeep, scooter, tuk-tuk, bicycle, kayak, foot, balloon, elephant, camel, and even donkey. Some of the highlights of their trip were hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, snorkeling in both the Galapagos and the Great Barrier Reef, touring the backbone route of Madagascar, and visiting the ancient sites of Egypt and Jordan. They documented their travels in a series of 10 journals and over 35,000 photographs (don't worry, they won't be showing them all!). In traveling from the first world to the third world and back again, their most valuable souvenir has been a sense of perspective on their place in the world, and their responsibilities to it.
