Please join Lisa O’Dwyer for a presentation on her life around the world. She will speak about how her interest in the world, history, and art, led her to live abroad for 13 years. She lived in London, Florence, Japan, and Ireland, during her 13 years abroad. She will show how young people can study and work abroad. Her first trip was to Spain in her freshman college year. After that, she studied abroad during her junior year in London and Florence, and then spent three months in the summer travelling to 13 different countries on a Eurorail pass. Upon graduating college in 2000, she applied to teach English in Japan on the JET Programme (sponsored by the Japanese government). She ended up teaching high school students in a small rural village in the middle of Japan called Shigaraki. Shigaraki is famous for its distinctive anagama-kiln fired pottery which has been made there since the 8th century. Lisa met her husband, Niall O'Dwyer, who was also on the JET Programme, in her second-year of teaching in Japan. She moved with him to his native Ireland in 2003, got married in Dublin in 2004, and then lived in County Kildare until 2013, when they moved to Fort Collins. Lisa O'Dwyer is a licensed realtor and professional photographer based in Fort Collins. She moved here with her two boys and husband, a history teacher at Fossil Ridge High School. She is originally from a small town in rural southwestern Pennsylvania, and fell in love with the world while majoring in Art History in college. Lisa's parents retired here the same year, and her sister's family has been here since the mid-90s Presentation Dates, Locations, and Times Tuesday January 8, 2019 Old Town Library from 7-9 PM Thursday January 24, 2019 Harmony Library from 7-9 PM
