Event Details

All Four Year Olds Get a Free Book! The Library District will also hold a special family event called “Tour de Four” on Saturday, May 18 from 2-4 PM at Old Town Library, 201 Peterson. Representative Joann Ginal will read the chosen book to the children at 2:00 PM in Library Park. Afterwards there will be tables with craft activities set up, followed by a bike/trike parade through Library Park for all the 4 year olds! Local bike organizations are helping to sponsor the afternoon activities. The statewide initiative is called One Book 4 Colorado, and it runs from May 6-20. Any family with a 4-year-old is welcome to come by any of the Poudre River Public Libraries during business hours on these dates to receive a copy of this year’s book “Duck on a Bike” by David Shannon (while supplies last). What is the story about? Watch Gov. John Hickenlooper read it on YouTube. This week is Colorado Literacy Week encouraging reading. Through the One Book 4 Colorado initiative Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia wants to get a book, in English or Spanish, into the hands of every 4-year-old in the state by May 20, an estimated 70,000 books. The project is a collaboration of public libraries and the preschools, with money from private sponsors. For more information on the project go to www.onebook4colorado.org. For more information on this special event call Poudre River Public Library District at 221-6740 or go to www.PoudreLibraries.org.
