Event Details

FoCo Concerts for Kids will feature two specially-commissioned musical tales, and musical adaptations of classic fairy tales, featuring musicians from Fort Collins Chamber Music Society, storytellers and actors. The principle piece will be the story of Antoine Janis, Northern Colorado’s first white settler, and his Sioux wife, First Elk Woman. It is composed by Glen Cortese, noted composer and conductor of the Greeley Philharmonic, and is based on local author Bill Tremblay’s The June Rise: The Apocryphal Letters of Joseph Antoine Janis. The second musical tale is a composition by locally-based composer and University of Wyoming student, Nathan Otto Beutler. FCCMS believes strongly in supporting both student musicians and composers, giving them opportunities to develop their craft and strengthen their community connections. Also presented will be musical adaptations of the classic fairy tales Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears by world-renowned composer, Bruce Adolphe. http://www.fcchambermusic.org/
