Event Details

Teens (ages 12-up; MUST have turned age 12 before 7/14/15) learn to be better babysitters in this fun and informative Babysitting 101 program. You'll explore the basics of being a great babysitter, how to do entertaining crafts with young children, how to select books for them and read aloud well, how to find babysitting jobs and promote your service, and discover materials from the library that will help you improve your skills. Safety, first aid, and emergencies will be covered by a FRCC EMT instructor. If you have a life size baby doll, you may bring it to use as we demonstrate. Each participant will receive a workbook with babysitting information and tips to take home, plus a record of attendance at Babysitting 101. Instructions for taking a free follow-up certification quiz at the Babysitting 101 website after program attendance is completed will also be given. This program requires registration and is limited to 20 teens. Please plan to check in promptly at noon for a pre-class activity and an on-time program start! Call 221-6740 to sign up. Once you are registered, a parental permission form is required to attend, turned in in advance or on the program day. Here is the link to the permission form: (http://read.poudrelibraries.org/teen/pdf/Babysitting%20101%20permission%20form.pdf) or contact Diane Tuccillo (dtuccillo@poudrelibraries.org) for an emailed or printed copy of the form.
