Thailand – Land of Smiles, Friends and Change Please join Mark Oberschmidt (RPCV Thailand 1988-90) for a presentation on all things Thai – including food, dance, music and trivia. Mark will discuss his experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer and how he came to love Thailand, its people, food and culture. He will also discuss the current political situation between the red shirts and yellow shirts and the other political issues in southern Thailand. Mark was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Chaiyphum Thailand from 1988-1990 working as a Water Resources Engineer, English Teacher and Caterer’s assistant (story to be told). He has travelled back to Thailand several times and stays connected with his friends there via Skype and Facebook. He hopes to spend part of his retirement in Thailand to enjoy the smiles, friends, food and change.
