Trailblazer Foundation Chris Coats, the Executive Director, will provide a brief background and history on how Trailblazer got started, who they are, why they chose to work in Cambodia, and what their focus is. Then she will go into more depth as to the specifics of their projects and their implementation method. She will also cover a little about their accomplishments over 10 years and what makes the projects sustainable over the long term. Chris Coats has many years of experience working in at risk and developing countries all over the world; including Kosovo, Vietnam and Cambodia. Trailblazer has been working in the Siem Reap Province in north-west Cambodia since 2005. Siem Reap Province has some the poorest areas in Cambodia. Through her experiences, Chris learned that a grassroots approach empowered the people she was helping, and a hands-on participatory practice was the most effective way to ensure success and sustainability of any project. This process encouraged and motivated her to co-found Trailblazer Foundation.
