Exploring Botanical Art Workshop
Exploring Botanical Art is an interactive companion to The History and Continuing Tradition of Botanical Art presentation on March 21, 2024. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to some of the basic watercolor techniques used in botanical painting. Beginner coloring mixing, wet-in-wet watercolor washes, and finishing details with colored pencils will be used to create a simple botanical composition that each participant will take home. This is a fun and informative session designed for everyone, no matter their level of skill or painting experience. Supplies are provided.
6 spots will be held for FRCC students, staff, or instructors! Contact Laura.Puls@frontrange.edu to reserve a spot. (Please note: if you took this workshop in the Fall 2023 semester, the content will be the same.)
The presenter Janet Vetter began studying botanical art in 2016. Janet’s paintings celebrate the annual appearance of many Rocky Mountain wildflowers, well-loved garden flowers and exotic orchid varieties. Janet is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) and the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists. Janet shares her watercolor compositions with audiences by entering regional shows and juried exhibits. You will often find her hiking on a mountain trail, exploring nature and looking for her next moment of inspiration.
The American Society of Botanical Artists is an organization of over 1300 members from more than 20 different countries worldwide. Its chapters and artist circles maintain active exhibition schedules and provide opportunities for artists to meet and learn.
